Whose Your Authority

Whose Your Authority

We are sitting and waiting
Waiting for someone to tell us
Waiting for another human to tell us it’s okay, it’s safe, this is how you do it….
I’m tired of waiting
I’m exhausted by other humans & our press
Not because they are bad, but because they are messy
They aren’t where my help comes from
He is

“I will lift up my eyes to the mountains;
From where shall my help come?
My help comes from the LORD,
Who made heaven and earth.”
Psalm 121:1-2

I was scrolling, as we do, and a post surprised me. A friend reposted a feed from a “famous Christian.” I was confused by what I read. This person is highly touted in the Christian world (more on that later). Her words, however, made me remember a verse found in Ephesians 4:14:

“Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming.”

This person was speaking coming from a places of trends of our culture rather than Truth. She seemed tossed back and forth using Scripture to push her opinion rather than her opinion being pushed by Scripture.

Authority. We have given too much authority to people. Whether that be a famous Christian, your pastor, or someone else, we have all given authority to other people to make decisions or guide us in our lives. We are waiting for someone else to tell us giving them power where they have none.

Jesus is the authority.

Not another human.

People are messy. They make mistakes. They are sinful (We all are. Hate to break it to ya.) And we’ve given them authority.

It is time we take the baton of authority back and place it in Jesus’ hands.

Most people who have authority desire to guide you and me into something good. However, they are not your authority. Jesus is.

And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.” Matthew 28:18
